The Griffith Gallery has been a fine art venue for over 20 years. It is located opposite the poplar lined canal on the corner of Bridge Rd & Mackay Ave, Griffith. This old English Cottage set in a tranquil 3 acre garden, houses artworks of local, regional, national and international artists.
This small cottage was originally simply built for rental accommodation however in the last 15 years has been opened up and extended into 2 main rooms, making it ideal to display artwork and serve morning and afternoon tea. The building exterior of the main room is in original condition with its character intact.
The gallery was established by Catherine Lane who saw the need for a Fine Art Gallery in this thriving multicultural regional city. The gallery offers a venue for artists both local, regional & national the opportunity to exhibit out of the metropolitan area.
A regular exhibition program, supports, nurtures and encourages emerging artists over the calendar year. A core group of artists have been exhibiting with the gallery for 15 to 20 years. Several have been successfully living and working overseas in more recent times.
Over two decades the works exhibited have changed from traditional realistic paintings to contemporary works which include canvases in oil and acrylic, Australian Aboriginal Art by Wiradjuri people, works on paper in all medium, sculpture, timber, glass , ceramic and mosaic.
The Griffith Cottage Gallery has had many successful exhibitions representing all mediums of artwork from diverse artists. More recently the gallery has taken its inaugural step into the world of investment art with an outstanding successful exhibition by African and tribal artist, Gabrielle Pool.
The gallery offers consultation and private viewings by appointment, in and around the Griffith precinct, plus packaging and shipping of artworks both interstate and overseas.
